Definition of AI agents has evolved quite a bit over the last 2 years. ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini were called AI Agents. We as users were using them for all sort of tasks - personal and official. They provided a lot of connectors through we a user could bring in data from different sources like email, calendar, etc for personal space, and for work - things like notion, google docs, stripe, slack were connected.
But then for me, none of these agents felt like personal AI Agents. I started working on something in this space in April this year, but ended up building a a bunch of personal apps like Email AI, Tasks AI, Finance AI in to a single desktop app container and Implement an AI agent to work horizontally across all of those apps/data.
When i shared with friends, some of them tried and most of them hesitated because email is a source and why would they trust me with their emails. But when it evolved in to more than email ai in to ai coach experience, some of them tried and gave me blatant feedback that this is too much, overwhelming. no one wanted to learn so much new stuff to use my app. It felt like a new OS to them. one friend said, if this is not your app, i would never come back to it. I dont think he ever did again.
Then it stuck me, while i built a backend which derives information about the data from all the connected sources, i made the frontend to look still like pre AI. With AI personal agent, memory is derived from everything thats going on in someone's life and organized as things. And each thing will be monitored by the ai for you. so i decided, why not just present the whole things to the users. I simplified nenva completely and now its a simple messaging app like whatsapp, iMessage etc. Except you will not be chatting with a human or an AI Agent, you will be chatting with things happening in your life like your money related transactions, your kid school stuff, your dental clinic's communications etc..
In the meantime, several personal AI Agents have come to the market, which are helping the users perform tasks. But nenva's strategy is more than that. It is to empower the user to accomplish all their everyday tasks and long term goals without compromising their privacy.
